Up to 7 inches of rain are expected when Gordon crosses Pa.

As Gordon crawls slowly across Pennsylvania, the remnants of the tropical storm will bring up to 4 inches of rain in the Harrisburg area.

The good news, said meteorologist Aaron Tyburski, unlike the floods of July and August, this rain falls in a few days rather than hours.

"This can help solve many flood problems," Tyburski said.

But the bulk of the rain is now falling, which Tyburski said the State College's National Weather Service will monitor and update in case the flood monitoring takes place until 8pm. Monday must be raised to a flash flood warning.

Since Friday night, most of the Harrisburg area has experienced 1.5 inches of rain. An isolated band in the Gettysburg area has dropped 4 to 6 inches of rain, he added.

The incredibly cool temperatures and heavy downpours we now experience come from two sources. A cold front fell on Pennsylvania and stagnated in the central part of the state, along the Pennsylvania toll road, Tyburski said. This has become the focus area for most of Gordon's moisture, which is moving slowly from west to east.

Gordon is far from the end of the storms we will see this week. Tropical storm Florence travels across the Atlantic to the Carolinas coast and could bring more rain by the end of this week.
