On Saturday, detectives arrested Dakeithia Nesha Andrews for her involvement in this week's murder of a Edgecombe County mayor and his wife.
A 25-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have already been accused of the death of Leggett's mayor and his wife, said Sheriff Clee Atkinson.
Gary Skelton and his wife Jackie were found dead on their property Thursday afternoon in Leggett after MPs responded to a welfare check at this address.
The Skeltons had been shot down, said Atkinson.
"We were able to solve this double homicide in less than eight hours," Atkinson said.
Two suspects were arrested on Thursday after the discovery of Skelton's bodies.
Keith Earl Williams, 25, of Tarboro, was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
He was detained at the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
A second person, 18-year-old Mitchell Brinson, was jailed for unrelated charges, but was later charged with first-degree murder, officials said late Friday.
Andrews, who turns 31 on Sunday, was charged on Saturday.
A motive for the murders has not been released. Brinson lived in the same apartment complex as Williams, according to MPs.
Investigators said they were waiting for forensic evidence to be processed.
Williams has just been released from prison on Aug. 28, according to a court case.
In April 2017, he was convicted of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and the possession of a pistol by a criminal following a shootout at Rocky Mount on Feb. 16. 2016.
Leggett Commissioner Teresa Summerlin was worried when Jackie Skelton did not show up for work on Thursday morning. She tried to call Gary Skelton, but did not get an answer.
Summerlin said the Skeltons were last seen Wednesday night when they went to dinner with another couple.
"They would have given them the shirt on their backs," said Summerlin. "For this to happen in this small community. The work that man has done for this community.People simply do not realize that he has invested so many hours of work."
