Carson Wentz watched Week 1 for his return.
That did not happen and now, it seems uncertain if he will play at all this month.
Wentz could be absent for "several weeks", according to a report released Thursday night by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. This would postpone his return in October.
The Eagles obviously use extreme caution with their quarterback and, because of that, according to the report, we could see Nick Foles as starting in October. The Eagles will play four games in September and host the Vikings on October 7 in Week 5 in a rematch of the NFC Championship game.
"They're not going to put him out until he's in good health," Rapoport said.
Wentz is recovering from a ripped ACL and LCL suffered on December 10th. Although he did not reach his goal of the first week, he took a patient approach. He has been in a good mood since he learned that he would not be ready for the opening match.
"Carson is well placed," said Eagles head coach Doug Pederson this week. (see the article). "He is very well placed now. He is supportive He understands. He knows exactly where he is. He works every day to return to the field. That's all I can ask.
Wentz was among the Eagles' six inactive players for Thursday's opening game against the Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field, but he did a good pre-game training. (see the article). He looks good, but the team is always cautious.
For now, however, he is the Super Bowl MVP.

Nike aired an advertisement told by and starring Colin Kaepernick during the second half of the opening game of the Eagles-Falcons season Thursday night broadcast on NBC.
This is the thirtieth anniversary of Nike's slogan "Just Do It" and, on Monday, the company made Kaepernick the birthday's face.
The decision generated a lot of noise and was greeted by Eagles safety support, Malcolm Jenkins, and defensive end Chris Long, two of the NFL's most active players.
Long tweeted the following:
Nike is a huge company. They calculated the risk. They may even have reason to believe that this will make the brand more popular, which means that the guy who burns his monarchs with white air is in the minority. Bitter pill to swallow, I'm sure. Good luck to the protest. I bet they had anticipated it.
With Nike's decision, a two-minute advertisement was posted on Twitter before it aired on television.
In the end, Kaepernick says, "So do not ask if your dreams are crazy, ask them if they're crazy enough."
