Monday, Urban Meyer said he was expecting to be at Ohio State for the 2019 season.
"I plan on coaching," Meyer told reporters.
When asked if he could say that he would be back with the Buckeyes next season, he replied: "Yes."
Meyer was suspended after mishandling allegations of domestic assault coach Zach Smith. The university commissioned an independent investigation into the allegations against Smith and the response of Meyer and his staff, and the results of that inquiry to the 54-year-old head coach to be fired.

Since Meyer's return, he has helped guide Ohio State to a 7-1 record, with its lone loss coming on Purdue on Oct. 20. The Buckeyes had an open date last week.
Meyer disputed a report about "friction" between he and athletic director Gene Smith last week. On Monday, he took issue with the idea that he appeared "anguished" on the sidelines during the Purdue game, a characterization that has been floated by ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit.
"We're not playing well." I'm one of those guys where I want to help the issue, like all coaches do, "Meyer told reporters. "I'm not sure what 'anguished' means – like 'pissed? Or upset? When you see some of the things we're doing that are really uncharacteristic of our teams.
