Two US fighter pilots were rescued on Monday after their F / A 18 fighter plane crashed into the Philippine Sea, the navy said in a statement.
The Navy press release indicates that mechanical problems occurred and forced the pilots to be ejected.
"The crew was immediately and safely recovered by the USS Ronald Reagan search and rescue aircraft and brought back on board the ship," the statement said. The aircraft carrier has resumed normal operations.
The pilots were in good condition and the accident is currently under investigation.
