US troops, as well as customs and border protection officers, are working to secure sections of the Texas-Mexico border, including installing barbed wire fences, such as the show new pictures.
Protection would include about 1,000 feet of fence along the Rio Grande.
The barrier was installed near the Hidalgo, Texas, port of entry, under the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge, which crosses the Texas River in Mexico. A Border Patrol spokesman said the fence was being used as part of the "necessary preparations". Indeed, four caravans, which gather about 12 000 migrants from Central America, are heading towards the American border.

President Trump, speaking at a rally held Saturday in Montana, called the barbed wire "handsome" and said that "barbed wire, used properly, can be beautiful."
The Trump administration has ordered the deployment of thousands of active duty soldiers to support border and customs officials in Texas, Arizona and California in response to the caravans.
Last Wednesday, the president announced that the number of soldiers deployed could reach 15,000, although the Pentagon has fixed this figure at 7,000 for the moment.
