Zack Moss and Utah rushed to another great Pac-12 victory.
Moss racked up a career-high 211 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns, helping the Utes, 23rd in the world, beat UCLA 41-10 on Friday night.
"We started playing football again in Utah and we were able to do a lot of good things," said Moss.
British Columbia Covey had 132 yards and a touchdown pass for the Utes (6-2, 4-2), who won their fourth straight game. Armand Shyne ran for a touchdown and Matt Gay scored two goals.
Utah leads the Pac-12 South with a game over Southern California and holds the tiebreaker against the Trojans in three conference games. The Utes are the only team in the South not to have played in the title game of the conference.
Utah scored 28 consecutive points after falling 7-3 in the first quarter. Covey sent a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight back Cole Fotheringham with a setback to put the score at 10-7 midway through the second quarter, and Moss made a 1-yard touchdown in the second and third quarters.
"Some of the passes that Zack made were hard and willy," said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. "He's like a hammer in tackles."
Shyne's touchdown scored 31-7 after Julian Blackmon selected Wilton Speight, who started for UCLA for the first time since his back injury against Cincinnati in the opening game of the season.
Joshua Kelley ran for 90 yards and a touchdown, but the Bruins (2-6, 2-3) failed to win their third consecutive victory. Speight was 20-for-40 for 164 passing yards with two interceptions.
"I think we have been overwhelmed today," Adarius Pickett security said. "We had some balls lost in attack, our special teams had some penalties and we did not play well."
Kelley scored a 25-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter in the first quarter to give UCLA a quick lead, but the Bruins' defense could not keep control of Moss's quick attack and l & # 39; Utah. Utah finished with 325 yards rushing and averaging 6.5 yards per run.
"We did not get on well in the first half, nor in the second half," said UCLA coach Chip Kelly.
Joe Williams, who was eager to reap 332 yards in a one-game school match at UCLA in 2016, had cheered Moss out of his mark in the 41-28 win over USC last Saturday. "Everyone is moving in the right direction and we have to do it, especially at the end of the year," said Moss. "It's like we were fresh and everyone was dead right now because we worked so hard."
The only misstep for Utah came when security, Marquise Blair, was ejected for targeting in the third quarter, meaning the senior will miss the first half at Arizona State. Blair came into helmet-to-helmet contact with Speight as he slid at the end of an 11-yard run.

Utah: The Utes avoided the disappointment that kept them from winning the Pac-12 South in previous seasons. Utah had followed wins at home against Southern California in 2014 and 2016 with losses on the road, but there has been no such slippage this season.
UCLA: The Bruins still have work to do. Consecutive victories could have made UCLA seem to have crossed course in Kelly's first season, but there were too many falls, penalties and missed tackles when Utah seemed vulnerable from the start.

With a fourth consecutive impressive victory, Utah will be in the Top 25 for the second week in a row. A curriculum vitae including narrow losses facing states 15 and 14 of Washington State could also be the subject of further scrutiny by voters.
TRICKY COVEY
Covey, a former high school quarterback, continues to make the most of every opportunity to throw the ball. The sophomore has 3 of 3 passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns this season. He was fortunate to add to that total in a double pass in the third quarter, but UCLA covered the receiver and Covey took off for a 19-yard run.
"The trick play passes have a high percentage (of success) and I prefer to keep it that way," said Covey, who has made five receptions for 47 yards.

Utah players and coaches wore decals in memory of Utes rider Lauren McCluskey, a 21-year-old athlete who was shot dead on campus Monday night. A moment of silence for McCluskey also took place before the match.
