CAYCE, SC (AP) – SCANA, a struggling public service, has reached a settlement of $ 2 billion with South Carolina clients who have filed a lawsuit after being billed to high fees to pay for the failed nuclear construction project.
SCANA announced the deal in a press release released Saturday. As part of this settlement, customers of South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. will also receive $ 115 million. The information reported by The State newspaper was reserved for SCANA leaders, who will soon be ousted.
Before the settlement can be finalized, it must receive the approval of a judge and the South African Public Service Commission must also approve the proposed acquisition of SCANA, parent company of SCE & G, by Dominion Energy.
Santee Cooper and South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. have abandoned the V.C. Expansion project of the summer nuclear power plant near Columbia in 2017 as a result of the bankruptcy of the main contractor Westinghouse.
