Van Jones' marriage ends.
CNN's host The show of Van Jones and his wife, Jana Carter, are divorcing, confirms PEOPLE.
"Although we decided to end our marriage, we still love each other very much," the couple said in a statement Friday by PEOPLE.
"We will continue to raise our children together, manage our activities together and support each other," the statement said. "There is no beef or theater – just the evolution."
Carter filed divorce papers on Friday and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two children as well as spousal support, reports TMZ.
The couple is married in 2005 and separated in May, depending on the point of sale.
Jones, 49, a Yale lawyer, is a CNN political commentator who appears regularly in network programming.
He is also the author of three New York Times bestseller books, according to his website: The green collar economy (2008) Rebuilding the dream (2012) and Beyond the messy truth (2017).
