Vaping Weed Safer Than Smoking Cigs

As rational and health conscious men, we must avoid behaviors that can cause harm even under the best circumstances. Some sports and physical activities can cause harm, but with proper training and equipment, these risks can be minimized or eliminated altogether.

Smoking, on the other hand, hurts our health. At least, smoking tobacco is. What about smoking other things, or vaping instead?

Even the tobacco company Reynolds American Inc. admits that

Smoking is one of the leading preventable causes of death. Quitting smoking significantly reduces the risk of lung cancer, heart disease, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other serious illnesses and conditions.

These and other diseases can appear after years without smoking. My father died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, although he had quit smoking decades ago. Reynolds adds that for health-conscious smokers, "the best way to do this is to quit." Anything that can reduce or eliminate smoking is a positive development.

Vaping may be just the ticket. Although cannabis – marijuana if you prefer – can be smoked like tobacco (or mixed with tobacco), this is not the only way to feel it. Sprays, such as vapor pens, heat up but do not burn weeds, producing an aerosol (vapor) containing fewer carcinogens and irritants to the lungs. However, they are too new to conclude that they pose no risk.

A 2015 report from Public Health England concluded that

According to the best estimates, e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful to health than normal cigarettes and, when supported by a smoking cessation service, help most smokers quit smoking completely .

All non-combustible products are not created equal. There are important differences between appliances, the materials from which they are made and the forms of products incorporated in them. A so-called e-liquid containing nicotine is the most common.

A Johns Hopkins study has detected the presence of potentially hazardous elements, including lead and arsenic, in electronic cigarette liquids, with much higher amounts in vaping pens with metal heating coils fresh. Some have ceramic heating coils, others quartz, which seem to release less or no lead and arsenic.

Cancer and other diseases are not the only problems with nicotine. It's also addictive. Cancer Research UK states that "nicotine causes a dependence almost identical to that of heroin or cocaine and is as addictive as these" harder "drugs." According to the best science, marijuana is less likely to addiction

Electronic cigarettes and vaping pens can be used as nicotine replacement therapy, reducing the risk of smoking-related illnesses, just as methadone or buprenorphine (Suboxone) can be used as a drug treatment (MAT).

Smoking or spraying marijuana at similar or similar risks is not very often requested, even by marijuana opponents. (They tend to wonder if cannabis is addictive, and if so, how much.) Maybe it's because they know they will not like the answer.

Although cannabis research is limited in size and in number by the inability to study legal marijuana, most studies conclude that there is little or no cancer risk associated with the consumption of cannabis. marijuana, especially in relation to tobacco.

Although marijuana smoke contains many carcinogens similar to tobacco smoke, it appears that cannabis also has anti-cancer properties that can reduce or eliminate risks. This is not to say that there are no other significant risks to lung health, except for cancer.

Cannabis vapor seems to have even less health risk than smoking, but again, there is not enough evidence to say that there is no risk. As there is a chance that this could cause harm, it would be more responsible, more adult, not to smoke or evacuate.

That's the problem. Smoking is the teenager. Almost no one begins to smoke in adulthood. Nicotine is so addictive, however, that once you start, it is very difficult to stop. To paraphrase the Jesuits and Muriel Spark, "Give me a child to an impressionable age and they are mine for life".

Similarly, marijuana can cause long-term damage to the developing brain in adolescent girls, but not in the adult brain.

At first glance, spray tobacco is less harmful than smoking, as combustion releases more carcinogens and smoke is more irritating to the lungs than steam. Marijuana seems (for all the most rabid anti-grass fanatics) to be less harmful than spray tobacco, and marijuana is even safer.

Another argument in favor of cannabis: Although tobacco has no currently accepted or rational health benefits, marijuana is not the same. Many US politicians and some doctors say that marijuana does not have proven benefits either, but again perhaps because it's too difficult to get permission to test it.

In the meantime, many people are demonstrating the health benefits of cannabis for anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain management and even withdrawal of life-threatening opioid medications. Say what you love about marijuana, there is not a single documented case of marijuana overdose deaths, despite the many opponents of legalization and decriminalization who seek one. This seems to be physically impossible.

Although marijuana is illegal at the federal level, 60% of the American population thinks it should be legal, recreational and medical, and roughly the same percentage of states have passed voting laws or laws making it consistent to their laws.

The United States tried to prohibit alcohol, which was and is a health hazard, but it did not work. Many people have decided that they prefer not to obey the law rather than stop drinking. All that has been accomplished is the creation of a vast criminal apparatus to feed this desire. The suppression of marijuana, heroin, and opioid prescription pain relievers has had a similar effect, resulting in drug cartels, crimes, overdose deaths, and acts of violence.

Not surprisingly, in states where recreational marijuana has been legalized, the number of crimes, violence and overdose deaths has decreased. The same is true in areas where secure injection sites have been established, where drug users can test their drugs to make sure they get what they pay for (some prescription pain killers are counterfeits, fentanyl), clean needles and medical assistance if necessary.

Spray marijuana is not a monolith either, and although there is little research on the safety or dangers of vaping, some methods may be safer than others. . First, there is the equipment, from a hand bong or a water hose to a vape pen. They also come in different materials, which may or may not affect the release of carcinogens.

The most common form of cannabis for vaping pens is a concentrate known as Butane Hash Oil (BHO), usually obtained by pouring a lighter liquid into a poor quality pot and filtering it. Other sprays use a loose pot, a whole bud or ground, with heated water. There is even a Keurig-style cannabis device using pre-filled pods that could soon be on the market.

If vaping seems to be the safest way to use tobacco and marijuana, in the interest of harm reduction, we should encourage users to change. Some people may continue to use longer than they would otherwise, but fewer people will die. This seems to be a fair compromise.

Welcome to the front lines of modern manhood
