Ruben Fleischer's Sony tent is expected to attract big box office next month.

Sony's marketing campaign for "Venom" has been careful not to reveal too much of star Tom Hardy in his complete transformation into computer graphics. The first trailer gave Hardy nothing to look at, while recent promotional material featured Hardy's songs as an eponymous anti-hero and a quick overview of the action scenes. With a little more than a week before the release of the film nationwide, Sony completely removes the curtain and gives a first look at CGI Hardy in full action mode.

The clip below, titled "To Protect and Serve," finds Eddie Brock, of Hardy, facing armed police. When law enforcement officials refuse to resign, Hardy turns into Venom and attacks them. We see venom resist explosions of grenades and stop a bullet with his bare hands. The clip arrives in the middle of a negative online buzz criticizing the visual effects that have been featured in the movie trailers.

"Venom" is directed by the director "Gangster Squad", Ruben Fleischer. While early rumors suggested that the film could be rated R, Sony released "Venom" with a PG-13, leaving the door open to a possible Venom / Spider-Man crossover in the future. The cast includes Riz Ahmed, antagonist Carlton Drake, and Michelle Williams, Brock's girlfriend, Anne Weying.

Sony releases "Venom" at the cinema on October 5th. Watch the action scene in the clip below.
