Iran's national television aired footage purporting to show a close encounter between the Revolutionary Guards Marine and USS Theodore Roosevelt earlier this year.
The Press TV website indicates that the meeting took place on March 21 in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, in the Persian Gulf, the passage of nearly a third of oil traded by sea. The television agency said the video was broadcast on Saturday as part of a documentary.
The footage is likely a show of force in the new US sanctions against Iran and the Trump administration's plans to bring Iran's oil exports down to zero.
In the video, we see Revolutionary Guard stars approaching the US aircraft carrier.
Iranian sailors warn Americans about radio communications to "stay away" from Guard patrol boats and say they advise Americans to "refrain from any threat or use of force" .
