This video shows a worm about 15 cm long removed from the eye of a man.
The 60-year-old patient went to the new Kundapur Medical Center in Karnataka, India, to complain of constant pain and itching in his eyes.
When Dr. Srikanth Shetty, a specialist, examined him, he spotted the parasite in his eyeball.

The worm – a parasitic ringworm known as Wuchereria Bancrofti – could harm the sight of the man if he was not removed immediately.
"The challenge was to extract the live worm because killing it in the eye would have created complications," said Shetty. It was also hard to pin him around as he was moving. "

"The patient also has worms in his blood and has been put on medical treatment," said Shetty. "The extraction of a worm 15 cm long in the eye is a first here."
Wuchereria Bancrofti, a human parasite, is a major cause of lymphatic filariasis. These filarial worms are disseminated by various species of mosquito vectors.
