Viet D. Dinh has been appointed head of legal and political affairs at 21st Century Fox, where he will act as full advisor to Lachlan Murdoch, future CEO of the company, after finalizing the sale of much of his activities in Walt. Disney Co., expected in 2019. The appointment is effective immediately.
Dinh was an independent director of 21st Century Fox 's board of directors and left that role.
Dinh will be responsible for all legal, compliance and regulatory matters as well as overseeing government and public affairs. He will report to Lachlan Murdoch and will also be a member of the president's office. In the months preceding the closing of the Disney deal and the creation of Fox, Dinh should play an important role in the creation of the new company.

Dinh was recently a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. He founded Bancroft PLLC, a major Supreme Court litigation firm and major issues, until its acquisition by Kirkland. He was a law professor at Georgetown University for 20 years and Deputy Attorney General of the United States for Legal Policy from 2001 to 2003. He served on the Board of Directors of 21st Century Fox, Revlon, LPL Financial, Scientific Games, MacAndrews & Forbes Worldwide and other companies. Dinh is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He was employed for Judge Laurence Silberman and Judge Sandra Day O'Connor.
