"I just thought that at the end of the day it was not the maids' voices heard, I know Aibileen, I know Minny, she's my grandmother, she's my mother," she said. Davis. "And I know that if you make a film where everything is the premise, I want to know what it's like to work for whites and raise children in 1963, I want to know what you really think about it. I've never heard that during the movie. "
Davis, who played to Aibileen Clark's maid, made it clear that his regret working on the film has nothing to do with the actors or the team.
"The friendships I've made are the ones I'm going to have for the rest of my life," she said. "I've had great experience with these other actresses, who are extraordinary human beings." Among the film's actors are Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain and Allison Janney.
The actress added that she "could not have asked for a better collaborator" than director and writer Tate Taylor.
The film has been nominated for a number of awards, including the best photo at the 84th Academy Awards. Davis was also named in the Best Actress category, while her teammates Spencer and Chastain were both included in the Best Actress Support category. Spencer won the award.
