Following the "secret invasion", Norman Osborn, who restores the public's goodwill by killing Queen Skrull, became leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. and turned him into H.A.M.E.R. and formed a new Avengers team on behalf of the US government. The Dark Avengers participated in various missions and, needless to say, they were much more complicated than the traditional Avengers teams, but the team finally collapsed during the "Siege" event, although Osborn had later trained new recruits.
