Waka Flocka Flame does not think Maroon 5 should make the half-time Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. He thinks it should be somebody from the rap community of the city.
"I think for the Super Bowl, it would have to be someone from Atlanta to represent Atlanta," he told TMZ. "Just because the Super Bowl is here so we can give them that spice."
The 32-year-old Atlanta rapper did not come to complain either, but he had suggestions as to where the league could go.
"I think they should have someone like Migos, Future," he said. "I could come play Hard in da Paint. They need Atlanta. It's just.
But it's not surprising that the NFL is neglecting the city and its musical legacy. "It's not fair, but it's the NFL we're talking about," he said. "They are not right."
"You are coming to America's biggest black state," he added. "Why do not you let a black artist happen?"
It should be noted that half-time programming has not been fully finalized. Billboard reports that the league plans to add rappers Cardi B and Travis Scott, though none of them comes from Atlanta.
But Waka was quick to point out that he had nothing against Adam Levine and his company, he just wanted the NFL to look at the city hosting the event for the evening.
"Maroon 5?" He said. "They have legends but let's be real."
