Walmart partners with Advance Auto Parts to open a specialty auto parts store on Walmart.com.

The world's largest retailer announced Tuesday that the new specialty store will open in the first half of 2019, and plans to deliver home and pick up the same day orders, as well as installing certain parts at Walmart or Advance.

Walmart's partnership with Advance could be strategic to counter Amazon's move last year in automotive aftermarket auto parts sales, which represents annual sales of $ 48 billion in the United States.

"This year, we have been extremely focused on developing our offering on Walmart.com to ensure we offer the assortment of specialties our customers are looking for," said Phillip Oaks, vice president of Walmart eCommerce and Director. Advance, headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Has more than 5,000 stores selling parts, accessories and cleaning products. "Our partnership with Walmart allows us to share our broad product line and sound advice with a growing number of DIY customers and support our long-term strategic goals," said Tom Greco, Advance President and Chief Executive Officer. Walmart also lowered its earnings guidance Tuesday, citing an effect of 25 cents per share following the acquisition in May 2018 of 77% of the Indian online retailer Flipkart Group for $ 16 billion.

The retailer said its EPS forecast for fiscal 2019 will now range from $ 4.65 to $ 4.80, up from 4.90 previously at 5.05. Analysts surveyed by S & P Global Market Intelligence had estimated at 4.82 USD.

Walmart reiterated its forecast of total sales growth of 2% for the year. For the fiscal year 2020, Walmart expects total sales growth of at least 3%.
