In 2002, Elizabeth Smart was barely 14 years old when she was abducted by Wanda Barzee and her husband, Brian David Mitchell, to her Salt Lake City room. Smart disappeared for nine months before being discovered crossing a suburb of Salt Lake City with Barzee and her husband.
During her captivity, Smart was forced to participate in a wedding ceremony to join Brian and Wanda in a "polygamous marriage". Smart was raped almost daily and treated like an animal.
Wanda – who was once an accomplished musician – should be out of jail next week, Inquisitr has already reported. In a separate room, also by the InquisitrElizabeth has already spoken of the release of her abductor.
"I think she's a threat. This is a woman who had six children and not only did she kidnap a girl and sit next to her while she was being raped, but she encouraged her husband to continue to rape her.
Smart admitted to being both shocked and surprised that Wanda was released from prison.
Just days before Barzee's release from prison, even members of her family revealed that they were as disturbed as Elizabeth by this news.
Barzee's niece, Tina Mace, admits she is still horrified by the details of the crime her aunt committed, ABC Action News reports.
"It makes you sick. How could anyone do that?
Mace also spoke about the organization of her aunt's house after her release, noting that "no family can take her or take her away".

Federal officials confirmed a housing placement for Wanda during his five-year probation release. While Eric Anderson, the Deputy Chief of US Probation for Utah, refused to confirm whether Wanda would live in an institution or private residence, he confirmed that she "would not homeless".
Wanda was sentenced to 15 years as a result of a guilty plea after testifying against her husband at the time. According to Smart, Wanda would be sitting nearby and would encourage her husband to force herself against the girl.

Smart recently made a statement while she was thinking about her captivity. according to ABC Action NewsElizabeth admitted to having believed that Wanda had been manipulated by her husband and treated as a "slave" or "maid". However, she did not believe that Wanda's name was erased, she abused as much as he did. "
Mitchell is currently serving a life sentence for his crimes.
