A 17-year-old high school student from Fitzgerald remained in Warren's police custody on Friday pending an indictment in the afternoon, accused of stabbing her former friend.
Danyna Gibson, 16, of Warren, died Wednesday after being stabbed in a classroom with a kitchen knife.
Classes were to resume in high school on Friday after closing after stabbing. Police Commissioner William Dwyer said the police patrolled the school and was waiting for additional officers to be stationed in Warren District Court.
Dwyer said the second-floor classroom where the attack had taken place was still a crime scene and buckled until at least the end of Friday.

Danyna was remembered at a vigil on Thursday as a heterosexual student who was in the brass band, the color guard and many other school activities.
The suspect, whom Dwyer also claimed to be a heterosexual student, is under surveillance in the police cell. The police, he said, are sensitive to his age. He said he asked to speak to his lawyer on Thursday night, the police accepted the request and his lawyer came in, said Dwyer.
Dwyer said the suspect was unhappy with the victim because she thought the victim was telling the suspect's 17-year-old boyfriend that the suspect was cheating on him.
Dwyer said that there were texts between the suspect and his boyfriend, but he declined to comment further. He said police received information on Wednesday that the suspect and his boyfriend went to school on Wednesday morning to resolve their differences.

He said that one teacher and 20 to 30 other students were in the classroom when the assault occurred around 8:30 am Wednesday. He said that Danyna had died less than an hour after being stabbed twice in the chest with a kitchen-style steak knife, according to Mr. Dwyer, who was coming from the suspect's home.
An autopsy from the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office determined Danyna died from several stab wounds; his death was found to be homicidal.
