In pottery stores in the state of Washington, some popular products may soon be banned on store shelves. The Alcohol and Cannabis Council of Washington State is re-evaluating edible products infused with marijuana.
"I think it's pointless to limit all the edibles in the way that they seem to want to reduce them," said Paublo Smith, who works at Pot Shop in Seattle.
"This was an unjustified surprise for the industry," said Andy Brassington, chief operating officer at Evergreen Herbal, a manufacturer of edible cannabis-infused products.
Brassington learned a few days ago that the country's liquor and cannabis council, based on the recent concerns of the council, stakeholders and the public, had decided to re-evaluate previously approved articles.
The chamber found "edible products infused with marijuana that could be considered particularly appealing to children."
On the Alcohol and Cannabis Society website, it is stated that "hard candies, pies, fruit cheeses, colored chocolates, jellies and gummy products should stop". The board adds that it "will give up until April 3, 2019 to sell any product in stock".
"It would be very unfortunate for consumers and patients in the state of Washington who are eligible and have the firm right to dispose of these legal products," said Brassington.

He says that there are already a multitude of rules governing the industry.
Smith is worried about local manufacturers of edible products.
"They've created a great product that sells really well in our store," says Smith. "It's their bread and their butter, that's what they do."
Smith sees a burden on companies that have followed the rules while the Liquor and Cannabis Council is considering a risk to public safety.
The Liquor and Cannabis Commission will hold a webinar and answer questions about edible products on October 16th.
