Choices and forecasts for week 7

WHAT IS IN PLAY

The control of the Pac-12 North race is at stake during the Huskies' first visit to the Autzen Stadium since their superb shot against the Ducks two years ago. Washington is one of two undefeated conference teams, but had a second half-turn last week in a 31-24 win over UCLA without a win. Oregon has just taken a week off. After winning 12 consecutive games in the series, the Ducks were outclassed 108-24 in the last two meetings with the Huskies.

KEY MATCHUP

Oregon run match against Washington's defensive front. To draw attention to quarterback Justin Herbert, it's the trio of freshmen consisting of RB, Travis Dye, Cyrus Habibi-Likio and CJ Verdell, who allowed the offensive to Oregon to work. Verdell has already played three 100-yard games, while Habibi-Likio is second in the Pac-12 with six touchdowns. Washington's defense against the race ranks third in the conference and 42nd in the national rank.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Washington: RB Myles Gaskin. A week ago, Gaskin rushed for 116 yards against UCLA, but he seems to have been embarrassed by his shoulder late in the game. Gaskin and coach Chris Petersen said the half-run was going well and the Huskies needed him. Gaskin crossed the 100-yard mark in his three career games against Oregon.

Oregon: Herbert. His first college match was against Washington two years ago in a game that most Ducks fans would like to forget. Last year, Herbert was injured and did not play against the Huskies in Seattle. Herbert has been great so far this season, especially against the opponents of Pac-12 where he completed 76% of his passes.

FACTS AND FIGURES

First time in the history of the program, Oregon has been confronted with three consecutive ranked programs. … Washington LB Ben Burr-Kirven is the third in the country in terms of number of tackles, forced fumbling and recoveries of trial and error. … Oregon has lost its last two games against the top 10 home teams. Had won six previous ones. Washington WR Aaron Fuller has at least 100 yards in four or six games.
