Eminem and Joyner Lucas attract an army of imitators in the new video of "Lucky You".
No, it does not make much sense. The two rappers are walking in an empty postindustrial wasteland to deliver their lines in double time. While walking, they are hunted by an ever-increasing number of characters wearing black hooded sweatshirts with eyes that glow bright red. During a bizarre and lengthy comic interlude, Lucas and Eminem realize that their stalkers will mimic every move they've made, so they drive their followers through a series of awkward dances.
"Lucky You" is one of many chapters on the state of modern hip-hop on Eminem's new album, Suicide bomber. "Nothin 'feels as if everyone has the ability to stick to a subject, it is to kill," says Eminem. Later, he complains: "Half of these rappers have brain damage / All skinny rappers," tattoos, syrup like tree sap. "
Eminem released Suicide bomber without warning on August 31st. During its first week, the album sold the equivalent of 434,000 copies, easily beating the numbers of the first week of its previous The comeback. Eleven songs from the album appeared on the last Hot 100 chart. The most popular song? "Lucky You", who made his debut at number six.
