Gorillaz delivers a fascinating performance in the new video of "Tranz", a piece from the latest album of the anime, The now now.
The clip finds Gorillaz performing the pulsating synth-rocker on a stage supported by kaleidoscopic visuals that bleed out of the backdrop and into the band's instruments. At the end of the clip, the performance exploded into complete psychedelia, with clay mushrooms rising from the ground and a dazzling light from the eyes of the 2D singer.
Gorillaz's artistic brain, Jamie Hewlett, co-directed the video "Tranz" with Nicos Livesey. Blinkink and production house Eddy provided the various animation styles of the clip, including freehand animation, ratchet work, and clay.
Gorillaz spent much of the summer on the road to support The now now, who arrived in June. The group will kick off its latest North American tour on October 8 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto. The race includes the Demon Dayz festival, which will take place on October 20 in Los Angeles.
