Missy Elliott surprised viral star Mary Halsey on Ellen Thursday. The duo interpreted Elliott's success "Work It" during the day show.

Halsey went viral on Twitter for her rendition of "Work It" at an annual karaoke picnic in her home town. In the clip, Halsey held a shofar and played the 2002 single with barely using karaoke. Elliott tweeted her and called Halsey her "funky white sister".

Sure EllenHalsey spoke with DeGeneres to explain the origin of the video and the recognition of Elliott's support. She then proceeded to a solo performance of "Work It" – with her shofar in hand, of course – before Elliott slipped on stage to join the woman and rapper him to her side. The other guest of the day, Kristen Bell, was surprised in reaction to the surprise behind the scenes of another camera.

Elliott then released his own video behind the scenes with Halsey Twitter, calling the woman "one of the sweetest people I've met". She also thanked DeGeneres for bringing the two together.

The biggest Elliott hit is an onomatopoeic treatment if you play too ra-ta-ta-ta, buh-bump-buh-bump-bump andba-rum-pa-pum-pum, and "Work It" was ranked 17th in the Rolling Stone's 21st Century Top 100 Songs – Far's List.
