Saquon Barkley was very explosive and played a big game on an electrifying touchdown in his NFL debut for the Giants Sunday afternoon against the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife Stadium.
With 10:39 in the game and the Giants following 20-9, Barkley managed a transfer from quarterback Eli Manning, beat three tackles in the backfield, spanned a defender along the sideline and missed the touchdown. five.
Chosen with the 2nd overall pick in the NFL in April 2018, Barkley averaged 5.7 yards per attempt and 11.7 yards per game in three seasons at Penn State.
Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians believes Barkley has the chance to follow in the footsteps of All-Pro's David Johnson, whom he coached.
"I saw some games on TV and it piqued my curiosity," Arians told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday at the NFL's launch of CBS season in Manhattan. "When you look at it, you think it measures 190 kilograms. Then you see that it weighs 23 kilos and it's like that;
"It reminds me a lot of David Johnson, whom I've had," Arians said. "Dude, that's a special trick, because it's really a shift.If teams want to go double with Odell, then Saquon will kill him inside."
