Only three weeks after the superb fans by posting a video for "No Erasin" of his new surprise solo album tracesSteve Perry shares another video of the album. This time it's for "No More Cryin", "a sad song about love and loss, which was partly inspired by the death of his girlfriend Kellie Nash in 2012.
"'No More Cryin' is a love song, but not the same way you would think," Perry said in a statement. "It starts at one place and builds and lands in a completely different place. It has many connotations and can apply to many types of relationships, including my own relationship with past isolation. "
Perry wrote the song Dan Wilson of Semisonic. It was the first piece they created when they met on the advice of a manager. "I was told that he had written a very big record [“Not Ready To Make Nice”] with the Dixie Chicks, "says Perry. "We got together and started drawing. I wrote this instrumental section and it has stopped growing. I kept his acoustic guitar parts and then I started to build harmonies around the parts of the main vocal. "I've always loved Booker T. & the M.G. and even drew my first groups after them," says Perry. "In my home studio, I have a picture of us playing together on this song. Working with him was so exciting.
traces arrives in stores on October 5th. Perry was very shy about his touring projects to support the album. Beyond some extremely brief appearances with the Eels in 2014, he has not performed on stage since his solo tour in 1995. He made an appearance with his former companions in Journey when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 and just last year when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but he never sang.
