The New Zealand duo Flight of the Conchords performed a new title, "Father and Son", on Monday night The late show with Stephen Colbert. The group, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, were promoting their next special HBO Flight of the Conchords: live in London Apollowhich will be broadcast on October 6th. The performance marked a comeback for the duo, whose HBO series lasted two seasons in 2008 and 2009.

The new song, an acoustic duet, follows "a guy and his little guy", which becomes darker as it unfolds. McKenzie and Clément provide a narrative of the dysfunctional relationship between a son and his parents (spoiler alert: a guy named Trevor is partly responsible). The song follows the long-standing mix of the comedies' comedies of the duet that borders on ridicule and a deeply catchy melody.

McKenzie and Clement also met with Colbert to discuss their new music. During the interview, the couple explained how the career has changed in the last decade since Flight of Conchords completed. "That old horse, celebrity," said Clements. "It's a wild beast, right? It can make you have a nice ride, it can make you capsize. "But you could also braid his tail," Colbert reminded him.

The group also hopes to take advantage of their fame to get a dinner from New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who is currently in the United States to address the United Nations. When asked where the Prime Minister of New Zealand lived, Clement replied, "I do not know the color of his house." "But is it a beautiful house?" Colbert pressed. "It's a state house," McKenzie said. "It was a kindergarten. And my brother went there for kindergarten. And then they turned it into a prime minister's house. They updated the furniture.

Flight of the Conchords: live in London Apollo was filmed during the band's tour of the UK earlier this year and directed by Hamish Hamilton. The one hour special features a mix of old and new songs.
