At the opening ceremonies of the 2018 World Championships finals, Riot gave life to his fictional pop group, K / DA, using AR technology. Alongside Madison Beer, Miyeon and Soyeon by (G) I-dle and Jaira Burns, K / DA Akali, Ahri, Evelynn and Kai'Sa performed Pop / Stars.
Last week, Riot Games announced the ceremony on social networks, explaining to its fans that it was not a show not to be missed and that it was not. Seeing the K / DA skins playing alongside their real-world counterparts was something special, but IKon's Bobby on stage performing his remix of Rise really took the cake.
This is not the first time that Riot uses AR to present us a show at an opening ceremony. At the opening ceremony in 2017, a former AR dolphin flew over the bird's nest in China, offering everyone watching it a complete show.
Skins K / DA can be purchased from 6 pm ET to prepare players for the Worlds Afterparty event. If this was to be a big advertisement for these skins, it certainly worked.
