Watches and warnings issued as storms leave 50,000 without power

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A powerful storm system has triggered tornado warnings on both sides of the river on Thursday. At times, the city of St. Louis, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and St. Clair County were in a tornado, and heavy winds and heavy rains cost more than 50,000 people.

A violent storm warning was issued for Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Louis and the City of St. Louis to MO until At 6:45 pm

A severe thunderstorm is in effect most of the area from St. Louis until 19:00

Significant damage was reported on fallen trees and strong winds in Spanish Lake.

The main threat of these storms is destructive winds of around 60 mph and heavy hail.

Storms will continue to move southeasterly along and east of the Mississippi River in the evening
