The reason we have not heard anything from extraterrestrials might be that they are all busy playing video games so bright that they make the PS4 look like an abacus.

That's one of the answers suggested by the German science channel Kurz Gesagt to the "Fermi Paradox" – the question of why we heard something from space.

Other – more depressing – include the idea that advanced civilizations tend to wipe very quickly, leaving the universe an empty space and dead.

But Kurz Gesagt suggests that instead, extraterrestrials could upload their consciousness into a "Matrioshka brain" – a theoretical megastructure where stars are used to power really awesome computers.

Instead of invading other star systems, extraterrestrials are content with an incredible VR, suggests Kurz Gesagt.

The "brain" would be "a computer of such computing power that an entire species could download its consciousness and exist in a simulated universe," Kurz Gesagt suggests.

"Potentially, one could experience an eternity of pure ecstasies without ever getting bored or wrong – the perfect life.
