The weather will warm up later in the week in the Omaha region, forecasters said, and there will be some slight chance of storms, especially Wednesday night until Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service office in Valley said that there is a slight risk of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday morning, with sunny skies later in the day. Expect a high temperature in the lower 80s.

Tuesday evening should be mostly dry and clear with a minimum around 65.

"We will be in good shape to watch the College World Series game tonight," said Ryan McPike, a KMTV meteorologist.

He said that showers could persist in the Omaha area on Tuesday morning

"Then, finally, we have a chance to dry," said McPike.

From Wednesday to Friday in the Omaha region, there should be plenty of sunshine with highs in the 80s to 90s.

There is a slight risk of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, forecasters said, and Friday will be windy.

Saturday's forecast predicts a partly sunny sky, a peak in the 90s and a risk of showers and thunderstorms, according to the meteorological service.

Sunday will be partly sunny with a maximum around 85.

The office of the Nebraska State Patrol in Norfolk announced Tuesday that the US 81 highway in Platte County was closed Monday night due to flooding between Nebraska Highways 22 and 91.

The meteorological service issued a flood warning for:

– The Missouri River in Plattsmouth, Nebraska City, Rulo and Brownville.

– Elkhorn River and Logan Creek and Maple Creek in Dodge County.

– The Big Blue River in Butler, Polk and Seward Counties.

– Shell Creek near Columbus.

– Pebble Creek near Scribner.

– Logan Creek in Thurston County.

Precipitation totals in inches for 24 hours ending at 19:15. Monday, according to the weather service, including 2.33 inches in Lincoln and 2.66 in Norfolk:
