Officials with the University of Kansas Cancer Center are hoping someone with a heart returns to colon stol.

A $ 1,000 reward is being offered to a giant 10-foot long, 150-pound inflatable human colon, officials said Friday.

The fake is worth $ 4,000 and was stored in a Kansas City neighborhood. It was in the city for a Saturday walk / run event, the Kansas City Star reported.

"Colorectal cancer screening is the most powerful weapon we have against colorectal cancer," said John Ashcraft, a surgical oncologist at the center. "Colon cancer is a tough, 150-pound, 10-foot-long inflatable colon is a great conversation starter."

Stacie Moody, the local events coordinator for Get Your Rear in Gear-Kansas City, which raises colon cancer awareness, said whoever took the item probably ditched it.

"There is not much of a black market for a giant inflatable colon."
