Just in time for Christmas, the Carolina Hurricanes offer a gift to their long-time fans.

The Hurricanes, which moved in 1997, will host a Whalers night on December 23rd in Raleigh, North Carolina, to honor the NHL franchise's debut in Hartford, Connecticut.

The highlight will be the team wearing the vintage green uniforms that the Whalers wore from 1985 to 1989 and during the 1990-1991 season. It will include the iconic Whalers logo.

The Hurricanes included the Whalers goal song, Brass Bonanza, in his tweet.

Thursday's announcement fits in the wake of new owner Tom Dundon. The Hurricanes started selling Whalers at the arena after buying the team in February.

"We are proud of the history and traditions we built in North Carolina in 21. But we have never lost the records set during the 18 seasons of the NHL in Connecticut," he said. Don Waddell, President and CEO of the Hurricanes. in a report. "It's a chance to celebrate the legacy of our team and the players and coaches that laid the foundation for this franchise."

The Whalers, who have left the World Hockey Association, have never gone beyond the second round of the playoffs. But they reached the seven seasons in a row, while they were wearing green jerseys.

Since the move – caused by low attendance and the inability to enter a new arena – the Hurricanes have won a Stanley Cup in 2006. But they are stuck in a nine-year drought.

The Hurricanes will face the Boston Bruins, the long-time Whalers rival of the former Adams division, in the December 23 game. Carolina will also wear the green jerseys during her visit to Boston on March 5th.
