New York — Syracuse’s loss in Thursday’s 2K Classic in Madison Square Garden sent the Orange to Friday’s consolation game.

There, SU will play Oregon at 4:30 p.m. The No. 13 Ducks, like the No. 15 Orange, were upset in their semifinal game. Syracuse lost to unranked Connecticut.  Oregon lost to unranked Iowa.

Friday’s game matches two 7-footers in Paschal Chukwu, who struggled to defend the interior on Thursday, and Bol Bol, the son of former NBA big man Manute Bol.

Oregon, like Syracuse, struggled to make shots and was outrebounded in its game, too.

The Orange needs a big bounce-back game from Oshae Brissett, somebody to make a 3-point shot and a better effort on the defensive end if it is to unseat Oregon. UConn made 12-of-21 3-point shots against SU and crushed the Orange on the glass.
