What is it? Huge metal object turns to outside banks

COROLLA, N.C. (WNCN) – A large, rusty object that failed the Outer Banks earlier this year is still a mystery.

The massive piece of cylindrical metal has what appears to be several fins that protrude from the sides.

Video of the Outer Banks voice also said that there is a light on a short pole attached to the top of the object, which is at Currituck milepost 3.5 at Pine Island.

The small light actually works at night and seems to be powered by a small solar cell, the newspaper reported.

Some serious speakers guessed that it was a shoal marker or a navigational aid.

Humorous commentators asked if he had a parking card for the beach and another said it was "the control tower of a Russian class Z nuclear submarine".

Strange things have already happened in the Outer Banks, including large buoys and training mines.

In November 2017, a large piece of curved debris on the beach came from a Space X rocket.
