Head Coach Matt Nagy
D & # 39; agreement. It was a good team victory to make our defense the best possible. That was our specific challenge, with the rest of the team, is to play four quarters and so I think you have felt that, seen. I know I did it.
Just extremely physical and you know, our offense, again, very similar to last week. I thought that there were times when we got into ruts, but we took that and we did it on the ground. It was a fun evening. I really want, for me, to thank the fans. I think it was so great.
It all started with the national anthem, it was so cool. That gave me goosebumps and it was so nice to be part of that. Then, every time our defense was right, just to hear the sound, it's our 12th man and we're talking to our players that's where our opponents get into Soldier Field, we want our opponent to feel, hey, dude, it's a hard place to play and this is largely due to the fans. So, we appreciate their support tonight. It helps us a lot to win this win, and of course also 54 years with the ring – very good things.
All around, a good night, but we will continue to grow and learn.
Q. How would you rate Mitch's game?
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: I thought Mitch was, again, he got to a point we started with – was about 97 yards to start the game, 96, and finished with a touchdown, and similar to last week.
I thought most of the time, in the recesses, making quick decisions, getting the ball out on time, he had the interceptions and the first one was knocked down. These were difficult. And then the other was a shot and the kid made a hellish game. Again, what we are learning in this process is that we are in a next game mentality and I am satisfied with the way it has behaved from the game in the fourth quarter. Anytime after any game, good or bad, after the show, it was phenomenal. His attitude was great and he was not worried about anything. That's the growth there and it makes me happy to know that he understands that.
Q. Did you try to do anything in the second half –
TRAINER MATT NAGY HEAD: No, I do not care what happened. I 'm mad, I' m plugged in "he launched four choices in the first period. I will not change. I will trust him and continue to be this offense. I told him that from the beginning and I will never back down. What I'm going to do is try to protect him at times, but he will not know when I protect him. It will be through me to do it my way, but it will cut it and if it starts to get into a shell, we all enter a shell.
Q. The defense, when you needed it most – the two gifts of the first half, the three and the outs, the turnovers – what was the key to that?
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: I thought it was pretty cool after a sudden change with two interceptions, we had two three and went out by the defense. It's great. There are not many teams in the NFL who have this mentality of what our defense plays.
The last two games, we had difficulty in the third and fourth quarter against Green Bay, but most of the time, our defense plays fast and revolves around. They helped us offensively. They helped the offensive. There will be times when the offensive will help the defense. In the end, the thing that matters, and that's all.
Q. What was the key to performing the shuffle key?
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: To read defense and choose option A or B, there are several options, and for him, he made a good decision and it's a piece we have in our attack and we have different ways to do. to get there and it was necessary to see who come to fruition.
Q. Their running game tonight –
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: Well, they did good things. They were doing things on a personal level, but I think for the most part, part of our mentality was trying to stay a bit aggressive and get some of the running out of the game. play and simply let the racing game take over in the third and fourth quarters. Now, that did not happen like that, but sometimes that's what you hope for.
Q. What did you like about the short passing game in the second half?
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: Mitch was effective. I do not know what his final numbers were. I think he was nine out of ten – 12 out of 14, so he was finishing the ball. Some of them are like the racing game. It continues to run the clock, then you choose and choose your shots. You want to calculate with that, but every time you have a success – every time your completion percentage is high, you do something good and you just hope you can have shots in the ground, as well as.
Q. Given your personal journey, what does this victory mean to you, your first victory as a head coach?
HEACH COACH MATT NAGY: It feels good. For me, however, it's more than that, and I mean, it's just more about us, and it's so neat to start here for my first meeting, meeting. 39, team, meet all the guys and see us grow up. I'm looking forward to seeing the future of this team and I can not wait to see how we are not only responding to tough defeats like Green Bay, but now we are responding to a good win for us.
Sometimes they are just as difficult. I will continue to do everything I can in a week to prepare and prepare them and we will be ready to go to Arizona.
Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky
Q. This week compared to last week in terms of how you felt?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: Feels amazing to win. I mean, that's what this game is all about. Last week did not go as planned. This week we met as a team and we did it. There will always be things to improve, we know it. You must take advantage of these W's and we have certainly done it. We got together and did the game when it was necessary. Offenses must continue to grow, the defense must do it – we just have to support each other and the special teams are doing their job as well. We just have to pull the three phases together and keep driving and hopefully from now on, but it's really good to win.
Q. You are talking about wanting to have a different state of mind. Did you have a different mentality this week?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: Just let go. Let go, play for free. My teammates and coaches have had my back all week. Just try not to put yourself under too much pressure and have fun with the guys and that 's what I' ve done tonight. So, there is going to be something to watch, keep building and getting better, but it 's very fun to be there. Enjoy all the fans, they have been great tonight and, as I said, the defense has been fantastic, so it's great for our team.
Q. What did you feel about your presence in the pocket, your coolness, your clock, the things you talked about to improve?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: Of course, it's even better. Feel like I was better this week, stay in the pocket, get out quickly. O-line did a fantastic job all night giving me time when I needed it and just finding those receivers but they had a good plan on their side and we just found ways to move the ball on the ground. continue to find ways to score points and keep our defense off the court to give them a break because they played so well.
Just continue and continue to grow within that offense, that's what we're trying to do, but I think I was better in the pocket tonight and I look at what I can continue to improve.
Q. The second half –
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: I think we were just methodical, just what Coach was calling, we were just going on the field and staying out of the third and waiting, not fighting with penalties or anything. Just stick together, run the games, go out and really mix with the run and the pass, the playaction and all that. And then go down and finish in the red zone.
So everything starts up front in the O-Line. They beat them in the running game and gave me time in the passing game. So, a lot of credit for these guys and I think they played really well tonight. They played well for us.
Q. Are you a guy coming home and thinking all night about what you could have done better or are you able to turn it off?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: A bit of both. Everything depends. Certainly a bit less after a win because you are doing what you had to do for the team to win, so I'm very excited about it but I will probably watch the game very quickly and rest but we have to bounce back for a short week because we played Monday.
I'm trying to overcome too many things. I think it hurts me a lot more than that to help me get back games and build on what I did well and forget what I did wrong and continue to improve and learn this offense and coach does not stop to say a process. We want immediate results, but finding ways to win is very important and we did it tonight.
Q. You mentioned earlier this week that the completion of the work could be in the fourth quarter – does that concern you in the fourth quarter?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: Yeah absolutely. We just wanted to walk on it. Not being conservative every time we get the ball back, just bring it back to the field and score goals. Obviously, we were in different situations at the end, trying to win a victory. time. When we have the ball, just go down and whatever the game, be sure to run it to the best of our abilities and make it work. It's our state of mind and my state of mind is only achievements, take out the ball from my hand, take care of the O-Line, bring the ball to the game leaders and let them do the work. It's always a process of learning and growth, I keep repeating in the context of this offense and we are just trying to improve every day.
Q. How was Nagy coach's first victory?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY: It was awesome. He is really humble and he deviates a lot of attention but it was really important for us – because he always has the back for us to deliver this victory and he is only creating a wonderful culture and mindset for this team . keep getting together and playing together as a family, so it was a lot of fun tonight and I'm happy to get the coach's first victory as head coach of the Chicago Bear.
Defensive Combat Akiem Hicks
When games close
"You see the energy tonight in the locker room. It's a great feeling and it's something we'll get used to.
In anticipation of a big game in the fourth quarter
"I did not know who was going to do it, but I know we have a group of playmakers, and I knew that at one point, one of us would go wild and play. I was so happy for Prince (Amukamara), Prince brought him home, he said he was on track for ten interceptions this year so we'll see. "
On the potential of this defense
"You can not ask me that, man, you know what I'm thinking, look, we have to be mean, ferocious, whatever words I've sent you since OTA, we want to build something here that will remember . "
Tight end Trey Burton
On his touchdown
"Whatever this defender does, it's the opposite, so Mitch did well with the field."
On the question of whether he should sell his blocking role to score
"No, I'm at the back and he (the defender) was more in the front."
On the success of touchdown play in practice
"It has always worked, it depends only on the reading and the appearance of the defense. You can do several things with the ball and (Mitch Trubisky) made the right decision in an obvious way."
On the changes in their approach this week
"I think you've seen us learn and progress a bit, we did not have a good last weekend but we worked during practice and we have to keep improving, we have a young team and every game really counts. . " "
Linebacker Danny Trevathan
On the defensive performance tonight
"It's just a glimpse, man, we're just starting." We finally collected four quarters, although we could have done a lot better and I know that's what our defense feels because we We are still trying to improve, but it was a start, and we feel good and we will continue to drive for sure. "
On the pressure on Russell Wilson
"The key to playing them never allows him to get comfortable and move and use his legs like that. [We needed to] create havoc for him and we did it today. He still found a way to make games but I think we have held up well this week. "
The result of last week as motivation
"It was a motivator throughout the week but we knew this game is important because it's the next game, so we decided to make a statement today, we know that Urlacher is very We were proud of this team for our linebackers, we were proud of it, we wanted to go out and demonstrate it and get the win.It was the second game. "Nagy deserved it, this whole team and organization deserved it.
