MIAMI – Residents of South Florida, on the rise, watched the sky before dawn Friday and saw what some thought was a UFO.

PHOTOS: UFOs? No, just a SpaceX launch on South Florida

Local 10 has been inundated with calls and e-mails about the strange object seen on most Miami-Dade and Broward. Some asked if the end of the world was near and whether an extraterrestrial occupation was beginning

Well, what they saw was indeed a spaceship, but no need to call Will Smith because it was not an extraterrestrial invasion.

The mysterious lights actually came from a SpaceX launch at Cape Canaveral.

At 0542, SpaceX sent one of its Falcon 9 rockets on a supply mission to the International Space Station. The rocket, along with the company's Dragon capsule, is expected to arrive at the ISS on Monday.

Space.com reports that the majority of the materials on board the rocket are scientific objects; about 3,874 lb worth of equipment to be exact.

The report also states that a new experiment aimed at "determining whether cells cultured in microgravity can serve as a model to evaluate the effectiveness of certain cancer drugs" was also sent in the following year. ;space.

So no need to worry, South Florida. The only invasion of our community is snowbirds coming down in winter.
