At the end of Creed IIAdonis "Donnie" Creed defeated Viktor Drago in the decisive duel of the film in Russia, and the victory could not be sweeter. After a first attempt by the newly crowned heavyweight champion severely beaten and in need of recovery, the animated final battle offers the victory he was looking for earlier in the film.
But with this win in the bag, thanks in part to Bianca's understanding that it was something he had to get out of his system, one has to wonder what would bring Adonis back to the ring for a potential. Creed III. CinemaBlend was able to ask Michael B. Jordan himself where he thought the stakes should be for the future, and he had this to say:
Not knowing where to go for a Creed III The story may seem disappointing to some. However, given the history of the Rocky franchise, it is also about a rather refreshing development. As much as this new film paves the way for interesting tracks for a third film in the Creed series, it is actually too early to identify a story.
Creed II is about to maintain the reputation of the franchise and get a result worthy of Thanksgiving. The classic approach would, of course, be to develop a suite quickly and put it quickly into production. But from the beginning, the Creed series has been both eager and prudent to advance in his story.
After all, it was not until 2017 to get any clue that a sequel would form officially, and that's been two full years after. Creed brought the world of Rocky back to life. In the end, the challenge for Creed III would be the same one that everyone, especially Michael B. Jordan, faced when coming back for Creed II.
The next film must serve a purpose that is not corny, preserves the freshness of the franchise and, above all, allows the public and the filmmaker to be interested in a biological premise. Adonis having been beaten enough in the first match against Viktor Drago, but finally beating him in a revenge so grueling, it would take a very good reason to bring this new father into the ring.
It's something you can even see by looking at Jordan's body language footage that talks about a potential sequel, which you can see below:
should Creed III This is happening in the near future, or even closer, it seems that Michael B. Jordan will not sign unless there is a good reason to continue. Finding this good reason is going to take a while, although there are certainly some things to be done. Creed III to potentially make this magic trilogy happen. For the moment though, you can enjoy Creed II, which is in theaters now, ready to cheer you up for a champion Thanksgiving.
