LOS ANGELES – Millions of viewers watched Bobby Bones and pro partner Sharna Burgess hoisted the mirrorball trophy with a superb victory on Monday in "Dancing With the Stars".

But USA TODAY was so close to the action on the dancefloor that when competitor Milo Manheim splashed into the temporary pool with professional partner Witney Carson, we were hit by water. Of course, it was only a few drops. But we were legitimate in the start zone during the competition.

Here's what we saw as the cameras failed.

More: How Bobby Bones and his partner Sharna Burgess have achieved the "Mirrorball Miracle Miracle" DWTS Miracle

Was there any love between the Alexis Ren swimsuit model and the pro Alan Bersten?

Call us cynical, but we had our eyes on Ren and his partner Bersten, who said they were in a relationship while insisting that there was no question of creating drama or arousing the interest of fans.

It's just love, right?

While they were watching the dance floor while an introductory video showed them that they were talking about the emerging relationship, Ren and Bersten laughed and huddled next to the camera. Bersten even kissed Ren on the cheek. The laughter increased as Ren could be heard on the video saying "we communicate with our hearts".

But there was less chemistry after the couple's second and last dance. Host Erin Andrews interviewed the duo outside the ballroom, noting that they had finished their last dance. It clearly encouraged the two to punch the camera to immortalize the moment of the television.

In the ballroom, professional dancer Sasha Farber laughed, waving her hands and shouting "Kiss! Kiss!" to the pair on the giant screen. But Ren and Bersten went astray and had a facial collision, much to Farber's obvious disappointment.

Milo Manheim panics before dancing

The Disney Channel star, Manheim, might seem the coolest guy on the dance floor. But out of sight before his Charleston of "Living in New York," he was leaping, making wild grins and pulling out his tongue to get ready. He suddenly left the scene before the broadcast, while his professional partner Carson seemed puzzled, hands up ("I was like, where the hell are you going?", Said Carson later) . Manheim needed a glass of water ("I was really thirsty").

He returned to the scene, apologized to Carson and took deep breaths. Then he nailed the number, earning 10 perfect points from the judges.

Keo Motsepe let Evanna Lynch shine solo in her final dance

"Harry Potter" actress Evanna Lynch had some skills, but the self-described introvert was struggling to let her true personality show (in stark contrast to champion Bones).

However, in the last breathtaking issue of Bjork's "It's So Quiet" freestyle, Lynch let everything fly into a colorful world that amazed her. Judge Bruno Tonioli cast impartial behavior out the window as he stood up, smiling and clapping during the complex number.

In an unusual gesture, Lynch moved away from her partner Motsepe in the last moments of the dance, standing on a platform that rises alone towards the ceiling. Motsepe let her shine solo. Out of reach of the camera, he was so impressed with Lynch's performance that he unleashed a roar of boundless approval.

Bobby Bones nearly died after his perfect score

Champion "DWTS" Bones proudly sported his ghost flag, even off camera. After handing the shoes to autograph signing after his first dance, Bones then jumped back, ex-former champion Emmitt Smith in the front row and proudly pumped his shoe into the air. After a perfect score in the free dance, Bones and Burgess were so shocked that they fell to the ground. They lay in the advertising until a machinist moved them, warning them that a giant accessory was rolling towards their head.

"That would have been quite the way to go," said Bones afterwards. "After 10 perfect years, Rest In Peace, Sharna and Bobby."
