BEREA, Ohio – As the Browns prepare to host the 3-1 Ravens on Sunday, starting receivers Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway missed the practice session due to knee injuries.
But coach Hue Jackson is confident he will be on Sunday.
"I'm very optimistic," said Jackson, "I feel good with them."
It also plans to limit Callaway's representatives in hopes of increasing its productivity. But he will not say who will benefit.
"Anyway, it will be based on the game plan," he said.
The Browns begin to play safely Damarious Randall, who also missed the training session, explained how he was injured in the heel and how difficult it was to play on a good foot .
Linebacker James Burgess is still inactive with his knee injury.
Cornerback E.J. Gagné talked about replacing Terrance Mitchell, who will miss at least eight games after a wrist operation.
The Ravens Injury Report contains a dozen players, including six starters. Four of these starters missed training on Wednesday. They were receivers John Brown and Michael Crabtree, cornerback Brandon Carr and Eric Weddle, responsible for safety.
Coach Hue Jackson knows how important this game is to the 1-2-1 Browns.
"We have to catch up now," he says. "We've dug a little hole, we had chances, chances to win games that we do not have, our backs are a bit against the wall, we need the second quarter, we have to go and play better football and get some wins. "
Here are some important points:
1. Mayfield says the Browns are about to be excellent
Mayfield overcame a ton of adversity in Oakland, including three of his four turnovers, to put the Browns in a winning position in regulation. The reversal of the third decline of Carlos Hyde has foiled these plans. But Mayfield believes that substantial gains are on the horizon.
"We are about to be a great team," he said. "That's all we have not arrived yet and we have a lot of work to do."
Mayfield is congratulated on Wednesday by John Harbaugh /
"Very good, really make games," he said. "A very specific smuggler." It looks like he's got a huge control over the offense. "Looks like a rookie." Make a number of big games, especially Downfield with his feet and his eyes. just positive. "
