Nearly two dozen personal items belonging to the legendary physicist Stephen Hawking will go on auction starting on Halloween.

Christie's, a London-based global auctioneer, sells several Hawking papers, including his thesis, his dissertation on the origins of the universe and his wormhole specter. Hawking notes and equations are visible in some of the pieces, including a line drawn from his October 1965 Ph.D. dissertation from the University of Cambridge stating "This thesis is my original work", followed by a signature "S.W. Hawking". This is one of five known copies of Hawking's 117-page thesis, valued at between $ 126,000 and $ 189,000.

A motorized wheelchair in red and brown Hawking leather used from the late 80s to the mid 90s is also for sale. Hawking used a wheelchair during his stay in Cambridge and for most of his life after being diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. According to Christie's, the article is the oldest example of a wheelchair used by Hawking, who used it until it was can not use his hands anymore. Its estimated value is between $ 12,600 and $ 18,900. Funds from the sale of the wheelchair will be donated to the Stephen Hawking Foundation and the Motor Neurone Disease Association, according to Christie's.

Hawking's famous book "A Brief History of Time", published in 1988 with his fingerprint, is also available to buyers. The book first introduced modern astrophysics into popular understanding for many and turned Hawking into an icon.

Other items reflect the celebrity status of Hawking: an aviator jacket worn by Hawking during a 2016 documentary, as well as the original screenplay of his latest appearance in "The Simpsons".

The articles are part of an online sale also featuring articles by Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein. The pieces will be on display in London and will be officially on sale from October 31 to November 8.

Hawking died in March at the age of 76. In addition to his scientific work, he was also known for his direct and arid spirit.
