WINSTON-SALEM, NC – A white man who challenged the right of a black family to use the neighborhood pool resigned from a council of the association owners in North Carolina.
A video recorded by Jasmine Edwards on July 4, seen more than 4 million times on Facebook, shows what happened after Adam Bloom asked if she was allowed to be there. She accused him of identifying them as African-Americans. He called the police. The police then spoke with them outside the pool and determined that Edwards, who lives in the neighborhood, actually had access to the map.
Police Chief Catrina Thompson warned that her agents "will not serve as pawns"
The association announced Thursday that Bloom has resigned from his board of directors and as chairman of the board pool. Bloom did not comment.
