HOUSTON – A former employee of Southwest Airlines filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination, stating that the airline was allowing employees to create a white-only break room at Houston Hobby Airport.

Jamel Parker, who was fired by Southwest last year, says he learned "WB" when he started working for the airline in 2013. He says he has been around for years recent renovation of Hobby airport.

Parker's lawsuit also claims that black employees found a noose made of elastic cords at Hobby's southwestern gate.

His lawsuit alleges that black employees are held at a higher level than their white counterparts.

Parker claims that he was fired in 2017 after running on a power cord and did not report it. He cites two similar cases involving white employees who have been disciplined but not dismissed.
