The far-right Brazilian presidential candidate, Jair Bolsonaro, was stabbed Thursday at an event in the city of Juiz de Fora, in the state of Minas Gerais.
In a video of the incident uploaded on social media, we can see the politician on the shoulders of supporters while he is taken in a crowd of supporters. Brazil's O Globo TV reported that the politician was wearing a bulletproof vest, but the attacker managed to stab him underneath. His son Eduardo confirmed in a tweet that his father's life was not in danger.
The first poll after former popular president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva banned him from voting showed Bolsonaro, with 22% of the vote, according to Voice of America. However, the survey also predicted that the candidate would lose in a second round of 11 percentage points against the leftist candidate Ciro Gomes. He should also lose to environmental candidate Marina Silva. The first ballot will take place on October 7th.
Former military captain, the politician promoted his campaign on policies aimed at corruption and the suppression of crime. He blasted opponents of the Workers Party of Brazil (PT), Lula Party and the Brazilian Social Democrat Party (PSDB) as criminals and corrupt.

"We are going to sweep the leaders of these parties into the dustbin of history," the politician told thousands of supporters at a rally in Brasilia this week. "Brazil can not support another PT government or PSDB."
The crowd also launched an inflatable doll designed to resemble Lula, who remains imprisoned for corruption. Despite the ban on running, the former president remains popular with Brazilians. His lawyer also filed two appeals on Wednesday in the country's Federal Supreme Court and the Electoral Tribunal to overturn the current ban.
