Why a brand new interior is the car transformed meat smells

Ahh, that first sniff deep and wonderful when you ride in a new car. It's like entering an award-winning café for breakfast and breathing the first glass of bacon. You may have bought the brand new engine or maybe it's a centerpiece in a showroom, but the reward is the same. Damn, we love the smell of a new car.

It's not always the same smell. A cool factory BMW does not feel the same as a Ford, Honda or equivalent. The concepts and realities of the new car smell are as diverse and complex as the world of cars itself. The experts in the field (and there are probably some) would tell you exactly what creates such a magnitude of character; we just know we love it.

This is why it seems so unfathomable to us Westerners that the Chinese people can be so devastated. They hate that. They despise him to the point that they prefer not to buy the car at all if the smell is what they would call too pungent or disgusting. Ford took this very seriously and decided to "burn" the smell before the delivery of the cars to Chinese dealers. It has been simplified: park the car in direct sunlight, run the engine, turn on the heater and open the windows slightly.

Weird, we said. How can you not like new car smell, we said.

They could actually be on something, though. The new car smell is not really good for us. These sweet fragrances come from chemicals found in various parts of the car, from dashboard plastics to glues, coatings and even soundproofing materials. They are grouped in the category of "volatile organic compounds" and are not particularly healthy for humans.

Once they have lost the shape of various car parts, these compounds are essentially left to exhaustion; a process that is deliciously named degassing or degassing. Among these gases are tiny fire-retardant particles, lead, and even notoriously toxic mercury, none of which are particularly useful for the biology of homo sapiens when inhaled.

Since there are so many variables, it is difficult to make a definitive study, but research to date has uncovered more than 275 different chemicals in the interior of vehicles. All are not harmful, but some certainly are.

The heat generated by the normal operation of the car permeates the cabin materials and speeds up the release of these chemicals while driving. You have no choice but to breathe them and, in the end, we simply do not know what their harmful effects are. The new car smell, it's like bacon after all: absolutely delicious, but for health reasons, this may not be something you would not want all the time.
