Why Dez Bryant and the Saints would be a perfect fit

The New Orleans Saints will bring three wide receivers for a training session on Tuesday, and one of them happens to be the most prominent unemployed receiver of the market: former Cowboys passing catcher Dez Bryant according to Jane Slater of the NFL network. Veteran Brandon Marshall, who was recently released by the Seattle Seahawks, is one of two recipients:

Aside from a brief flirtation with the New England Patriots who went nowhere, this is the first good news that Bryant has been visiting another team since he spent time at the Cleveland Browns facility, as the briefly shows the past season of HBO. Hard blows.

Why is he still a free agent?

Bryant is a talented catcher who has refused a multi-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens during the off-season, but has struggled to attract interest since. Many thought, after the tease of his appearance on Hard blowsthat the Browns would offer him an offer. According to Bryant, it happened, but he did not sign with the team.

When it comes to off-road issues, there is some history, but nothing more recent should stop an NFL team from signing it. Bryant was suspended for lying at the NCAA at the university and had some minor problems with the law early in his career in 2011-2012. He has been a very productive player ever since.

Bryant, 29, is a three-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro 2014, but was released by the Cowboys after eight seasons and just under 7,500 yards by the front desk with the team. He made 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns last season. At the time of the Browns' visit, Bryant seemed in excellent shape, and there is no reason to think that it has changed.

Why saints are a good fit

We will probably hear a lot about this visit, whether it joins the Saints or not, given Bryant's passion for opening on Twitter. He has spent a good part of the season talking about football and action week by week, and has become one of our favorite analysts for this purpose. All the while, he said he would return to the football field "soon".

If Bryant joins the Saints, he will join a 7-1 team currently in first place at NFC South, with Drew Brees at quarterback. Brees currently has 18 touchdowns against an interception. Although Michael Thomas is an excellent receiver for them, second and third place receivers are Alvin Kamara (427 yards) and back Benjamin Watson (292 yards).

Thomas has just finished a game in which he has collected 12 passes for 211 yards and 25 figures to be the # 1 long-term receiver of the Saints for years to come. But behind him, there is still a lot to do, even though Brees has always worked well with virtually all receiver groups.

Having Thomas in front of him would also relieve a lot of pressure from Bryant and unrevised rookie Tre'Quan Smith, the team's No. 2 catcher with Ted Ginn Jr. in the injured reserve. The Saints themselves have just won a win over the Los Angeles Rams, still unbeaten, and must think this year is a year of the Super Bowl.
