CRÊME PHILADELPHIA – While the return of Carson Wentz following several knee surgeries was central to the Eagles' win over the Indianapolis Colts, the team's use of multiple sets of needles allowed the quarterback to to succeed at the beginning.
In the first part of the game, Wentz threw the ball seven times and targeted a tight end on all seven assists in a quick attack. The targets were Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert and Joshua Perkins.
The 13-member staff (a half-turn, three tight ends) presented several inconsistencies for the Colts 'defense, as well as the Eagles' offensive speed.

Before Week 3's win, Goedert had only one shot for four yards, as he was only three-time targeted by Nick Foles, who was playing Wentz, injured.
Goedert played 55 times against the Colts and led the Eagles with seven receptions and made a clear connection with Wentz, who was playing his first game since knee surgery in December.
The emergence of Goedert should help Wentz and Ertz to move forward. Wentz now has another big target and Ertz should get less attention in the cover.
Ertz is already leading the Eagles in receptions and yards through three games, but having other options in the passing game, like Goedert, should help lessen the attention he gets from defenses adversaries, especially in the red zone.
Wentz thinks the return of several tight end sets makes the Eagles' attack even more dangerous.
"This should allow us to do some, especially with the tight goals we have, which are extremely versatile," said Wentz. "Obviously, they're good passcasters, they're smart guys, just the ability to put stress on a defense, when they're passers like that, but if the defense wants to win nickel [coverage], having different staff on the ground, we should be able to take advantage of the ball with these guys. I just think it creates a bit of discordance in the spots, we just have to be wise about how we use it. "
The Eagles could bring back receiver Alshon Jeffery for his first game of the season on the road in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans, but they could still roll out several tight runs after seeing their impact in Week 3.
It would not be surprising to see the biggest selection take over in Nashville again.
