Why is the nightmarish Yankees' Clint Frazier season ringing?

OAKLAND – It could be officially a lost season for Clint Frazier.

The young high-profile player, who is still being touted, has suffered another setback in his post-concussion rehab and is "unlikely", said Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who said Frazier would be back in September.

Frazier, who is 24 on Thursday, saw a neurologist in Pittsburgh this week when symptoms began to subside, Boone said.

"As he was preparing to be transferred to (Double-A) Trenton," said Boon, "he began to experience symptoms, so he went there and saw this guy and was trying to find the best The program can begin to put him on track for good, hopefully this is a step in the right direction. "

McCutchen on Gardner?

The Yankees think Frazier is going to recover completely – at some point.

"I'm hopeful, confident that he will," Boone said. "But again, it's been a year trying to get in on what's going on with it and try to move it in the right direction with momentum and hopefully that it's a step in that direction. "

On February 24th, during a spring training match at LECOM Pirates Park, Frazier hit the left field wall twice, trying to catch some catch.

Once, he said, his bounced on a display board behind a mesh fence. This probably caused the concussion.

He remained on the disabled list until May 2.

There were times when Frazier seemed cured. In 15 league games, he averaged .265 with a RBI and a .743 OPS. At Triple-A, he hit .311 with 10 homers and 21 RBIs in 48 games.

Other times, he seemed never to get better. Frazier told reporters that he had problems with light sensitivity and that he had even forgotten the names of his cats.

Frazier's inability to stay on the pitch could force the Yankees to pick up the $ 12 million team's option from left-back Brett Gardner during the off-season.

Gardner, who has just turned 35, has just hit .239 with 12 homers and 41 RBIs in 124 games. He stole 14 bases in 16 tries.
