Mark Teixeira has seen enough in the playoffs to know which team ranks first.
It's the Boston Red Sox.
Boston won the AHL title on Thursday night by winning a dominant performance against defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the AL Championship Series. After losing the first game of the series, the Red Sox crushed the Astros, winning four straight victories to eliminate the team that many had designated as the future champion.
The Red Sox will be waiting for the winner of the National League series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers, but Teixeira does not think it's important to know who plays the Red Sox.
The former first-baseman of the New York Yankees participated in Thursday's "SportsCenter" and explained why he thought the Sox were "destined" to win the Fall Classic.
"That's what big teams do," Teixeira said of Boston's victory over the Astros. "They find a way to win. They have guys who do not expect to be heroes, they have guys like that that make the difference. All this series with two strikes, the Red Sox have had great success. I mean, when you can master a bat, get a starting pitcher from Houston to deepen the count and get two strikes, it's completely demoralizing for a staff of Astros pitchers who has been the best baseball pitching staff for all the regular season. They come here and the Red Sox have had their way with them.
"It seems to me that the Red Sox are destined to win the World Series," said Teixeira. "It was the best team of the regular season, they swept two very good teams in the Yankees and (Astros). I do not think any of the National League teams can beat them. "
The Red Sox were the best baseball team throughout the campaign, winning 108 regular season games. They are four wins of themselves and are probably one of the best teams in MLB history.
